SAMPE 2019
By Andrew Crouse
SAMPE 2019 has come to a close, the DH Sutherland team finally gets a chance to rest and reflect on catching up with industry friends, discussing innovative opportunities, and forming new relationships.
Before the conference even began, Steve attended a fantastic technical paper on CMH-17 and filled his notebook on details of the aircraft certification process, application challenges, and the importance of material & process control. He was particularly impressed with presenters, Cynthia Ashforth & Larry Ilcewicz.
We kicked off the festivities that night with an event hosted by our friends at CompositesWorld Magazine. Here, I met a fascinating gentleman with a deep background in composites, Tom Haulik, who was even featured on Episode 3 of the CompositesWorld podcast!
Throughout the conference, it was clear to me why SAMPE is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. SAMPE members belong to a global professional society that anchors its values in collaboration, innovation, & integrity. In his very first slide, keynote speaker and Boeing Chief Technology Officer, Greg Hyslop, highlighted these values and how they paralleled the values held within the Boeing community. Boeing and isn’t the only one to have formed strategic partnerships through SAMPE. Members treat one another like a family, and support one another for the growth and development of best practices in composite manufacturing.
Several of these members noted that this year’s attendance had been much higher than normal, and the presentations and attendees were certainly of exceptional quality.
A special thanks to one of our strategic partners, L&L Products, for having team members on site specifically to support our efforts in promoting disruptive technology!
